Museveni stolen Cows yet to be returned by Kenyan rustlers

The Ugandan president is not a happy man after all. This is after he lay claims that Kenyans across the border are stealing his cows. “ Ambia hawa watu yako waache kuiba ng’ombe zangu” (Tell your people to stop stealing my cows), he said openly eliciting laughter from fully packed stadium. He was speaking at the installation of Uhuru Kenyatta as Kenya’s 4th president of the Republic of Kenya after a successful election victory early this year.

A Kenyan community living along the border is well known for their prowess in cattle rustling. To them, this is a highly respected economic activity that must be observed every year in order to source wealth for new generations. The community which cannot be named for security reasons has had its elders come out to sharply criticize Museveni and even demanded for an apology. Until now, there has been no communication from Uganda on the issue but tensions still remain high across the border.

Museveni is well known for his tyrannical moves with the recent being deployment of his military to guard Migingo Island. The disputed Island is believed to be within Kenya’s territory but Museveni has refuted the claims and deployed his military. A stalemate still lingers over the dispute as both Kenyan and Ugandan authorities have presence in the rocky island. With the island being a major source of revenue for the locals who depend on fishing activities, both governments are not willing to let go the small piece of land located in Lake Victoria.
